Who qualifies for the Retirement visa

The E33F Retirement Visa is a limited stay visa for people aged 55 and over who want to retire in Indonesia. You need a guarantor in Indonesia, income or an allowance of $3,000 a month shown in a bank account, and a bank balance of at least $2,000 over the last three months. It gives a stay of up to one year; working for pay in Indonesia is not allowed.

You may not work for pay from people or companies in Indonesia, or sell goods or services. Business meetings, buying goods, tourism and family visits are allowed.

Staying past your permit costs Rp1,000,000 per person per day, and can also lead to deportation.

From the same age of 55, the Silver Hair visa (E33E) gives a stay of up to five years if you also commit to deposit $50,000 in a state-owned bank.

How the application runs

  1. Line up a guarantorThe E33F visa needs a guarantee from a guarantor in Indonesia, a person or a company, who sponsors your stay.
  2. Apply onlineCreate an account on the immigration e-visa site, choose Silver Hair & Retirement and the E33F Retirement Visa, and upload your passport, photo, CV, itinerary, the three-month bank statement and proof of $3,000 a month in income.
  3. Pay the visa feePay Rp7,000,000 for the one-year visa. The visa is issued electronically and must be used to enter Indonesia within 90 days of issue.
  4. Enter IndonesiaYour stay permit is issued automatically when you are admitted and sent to your registered email. A physical stay permit card is also available at the immigration office.
  5. Keep your permit currentReport changes of address or personal data, and extend your stay permit, through the immigration website before it expires.

Holders may bring eligible family to live in Indonesia. A spouse of a retirement visa holder applies for the E31B Spouse Visa: Rp6,000,000 for one year or Rp8,500,000 for two years.

Silver Hair Visa (E33E)

From age 55, you commit to deposit at least $50,000 in an account in your own name at a state-owned bank and show income or benefits of $3,000 a month. The stay is up to five years, extendable, with multiple entry. You must report the account to the immigration office within 90 days of entry. Visa fee Rp13,000,000.

Second Home Visa (E33)

Within 90 days of arrival you deposit $130,000 in an account in your own name at a state-owned bank, or buy property in Indonesia such as an apartment worth $1,000,000. The page sets no minimum age. The stay is up to five years, extendable; visa fee Rp13,000,000.

Remote worker visa (E33G)

For employees of companies outside Indonesia who work remotely from Indonesia: an employment contract with a foreign company, income of at least $60,000 a year and a $2,000 bank balance over three months. Stay up to one year; visa fee Rp7,000,000. Work for Indonesian employers or clients is not allowed.
