Who qualifies for the Retirement (ER) visa
Cambodia's retirement visa is an extension of stay, class ER, added to an ordinary (type E) visa after you arrive. It is for people aged 55 or older who have stopped working, runs for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months and can be renewed without limit.
The embassy sets no income or savings amount. You show that you are retired and no longer employed, with a pension statement or a social security entitlement letter, and that you have enough money to support yourself, with bank statements or a statement from your pension provider.
A 1 or 3 month extension is single entry: you cannot leave Cambodia and come back on it. Only the 6 and 12 month extensions allow multiple entries.
The retirement extension is for people who are no longer employed. To work in Cambodia you need a business visa and a work permit, which your employer applies for.
Overstaying brings a fine with no upper limit, and can lead to detention and deportation. After more than 30 days of overstay you must leave Cambodia and pay the fine.
Your passport must stay valid at least six months beyond any extension of stay.

Retirement (ER) visa questions
Does Cambodia have a retirement visa?
Yes, as an extension of stay rather than an entry visa. You enter on the ordinary (type E) visa, which gives 30 days, then apply in Cambodia for the retirement (ER) extension. It is for people aged 55 or older who are retired and can show enough funds.
Can a US passport holder stay in Cambodia for 12 months?
Yes. The retirement (ER) extension of stay is granted for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months and can be renewed without limit. The 6 and 12 month extensions allow multiple entries; the 1 and 3 month ones are single entry.
How much income do I need for the Cambodia retirement visa?
No amount is set. You show proof that you are retired, such as a pension statement or a social security entitlement letter, and bank or pension statements showing you can support yourself.
